MADRASA (2013) is based on true story about Afghan refugee family living in Iran after war in Afghanistan. The film portrays an innocent 8 year old Afghan girl Meena who wants to go to school, but circumstances and law in Iran don't allow her to do so. Her father Farhad goes every extent so that his daughter can go to school and fulfill her dream of becoming a doctor. The story reaches a point where everything seems impossible but courage, love and sacrifice makes its own statement.
Film ran in to controversy during the release in Kabul - Afghanistan in year 2011. Embassy of Iran objected the content of the film and forced the Afghan authorities to ban the film from release. Finally after lot of efforts and support of Afghan cinema and intervention of Afghan Parliament, film was premiered in presence of Government officials, Foreign Embassies, NGO's, Media personalities, and other distinguished guests on 6th July 2013 at Lycee Estqlal School (Institut Francais). It was highly appreciated and praised by everyone present for the premiere.
